Udaipur : In a major enforcement action against illegal mining, authorities in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district carried out a large-scale operation on Saturday under the directives of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. The joint effort involved the district administration, police, and mining department, resulting in 12 vehicles being seized, including 2 JCB machines, and the confiscation of over 500 tons of illegally mined gravel.
This ongoing drive is part of a state-level initiative to combat unauthorized mining activities that have been degrading the environment and causing revenue loss.
Targeted Raids Across Girwa and Mavli Regions
Mining Engineer Asif Ansari confirmed that the district-level task force, operating under District Collector Namit Mehta and Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal, conducted rigorous inspections across multiple sub-divisions.
In Girwa:

3 cases of illegal transportation were registered.

2 tractor trolleys and 1 dumper were seized.

A stockpile of nearly 500 tons of illegal gravel was discovered and confiscated.
In Mavli:

2 cases of illegal excavation were booked.

Authorities seized 2 JCBs and 2 tractor trolleys with 4 tons of gravel.

Additionally, 3 tractor trolleys and 2 dumpers carrying around 44 tons of gravel were intercepted during transportation.
65 Cases Registered, Over ₹3.84 Lakh in Penalties Recovered
Mining Engineer Ansari noted that a total of 65 cases have been registered so far during this statewide anti-mining campaign. The department has already collected ₹3.84 lakh in penalties from violators. The government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strict oversight and ensuring that violators are held accountable.
This operation marks another step forward in Rajasthan’s resolve to eliminate illegal mining and protect the state’s natural resources through coordinated and lawful enforcement.
