Udaipur, March 7 (Udaipur Kiran): Lieutenant Shreya Benjamin, daughter of Mewar, will return to her hometown Udaipur on March 8 after completing her training from the Officers Training Academy in Gaya, Bihar. A welcome ceremony will be organised to mark her first visit to the city after completing her training.
Her father, Manish Benjamin, said that Shreya underwent training in Gaya for the past one year. He described her as an exceptionally talented individual since childhood.
Shreya completed her schooling up to Class 10 from St. Mary’s School, Fatehpura, and later studied in Classes 11 and 12 at St. Paul’s School, Udaipur. She was also a state-level basketball player. After school, she pursued B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from UPES, Dehradun.
She prepared for the Services Selection Board (SSB) through AMAS Training Academy in Noida and also trained under Colonel MP Singh in Karnal while continuing her studies online. She cleared the SSB in her first attempt and secured All India Rank 3 in SSC (Tech).
Shreya shared that when she was in Class 10, a woman army officer visited her school for a development programme. She said the officer’s presence deeply inspired her and made her realise that if a woman could reach such a position, she could also achieve the same. Since then, she focused her efforts in that direction.
She said her parents supported every decision she made. Although it is often believed that life in the armed forces can be challenging for girls, her parents encouraged her to move forward, kept her morale high and always had unwavering faith in her abilities.
Shreya said that with determination and consistent hard work, nothing is impossible to achieve. She encouraged others to pursue their dreams with patience, dedication and a positive mindset. She credited her success to the support of her family, friends, teachers, and the prayers and blessings of well-wishers, and expressed gratitude to God for helping her reach this milestone.
