New Delhi, September 29 (Udaipur Kiran) : India has expressed strong objections to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s recent comments regarding the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir during his address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The Indian government deemed these remarks unnecessary and inappropriate, emphasizing that no external party has any rights over this matter.
During a bi-weekly media briefing in New Delhi, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “The comments you are referring to were made by the President of Turkey. India rejects the unnecessary remarks made by the Turkish President regarding the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir during his UNGA address. As you will understand, this matter is related to India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and no external party has any rights over it.”
Erdogan has previously raised this issue at the UNGA, prompting similar responses from New Delhi. Last year, India reiterated its established stance on Kashmir, which allows for no third-party involvement or mediation.
Responding to Erdogan’s comments during the 80th session of the UNGA in September 2025, Jaiswal remarked, “Our statement on Kashmir is clear. Everyone is aware of our position on Kashmir over the past few years.”
Last week, India also dismissed comments made about the country in a joint statement by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) contact group on Jammu and Kashmir, labeling them unnecessary and factually incorrect. The Indian government asserted that the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is an “integral and indivisible” part of India, stating that no amount of politically motivated propaganda can alter this reality.
The Ministry reiterated, “India clearly rejects the unnecessary and factually incorrect comments made about India in the joint statement of the OIC contact group on Jammu and Kashmir. The OIC has no right to speak on India’s internal matters.”
