Marathon Held at Fatehsagar to Promote Panch Gaurav

Udaipur, March 7 (Udaipur Kiran): A marathon and walkathon was organised on Saturday at the famous Fatehsagar lakefront to raise awareness about the Panch Gaurav programme. The event was held as part of the district-level Panch Gaurav fair and exhibition being organised in Udaipur.

The programme was conducted under the direction of District Collector Namit Mehta and witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of youths and sportspersons.

The marathon was jointly organised by the District Administration, Forest Department and the Regional Sports Training Centre. Director of Statistics Sudhir Dave, Joint Director of Statistics Puneet Sharma, Sports Officer Dr Mahesh Paliwal and Assistant Conservator of Forests Surekha Chaudhary flagged off the marathon.

The marathon began from Motimagri and concluded at Taya Palace after passing through the designated route. Youths and players from various institutions, including nursing institutes, Vidya Bhavan, Hindustan Scout-Guide and NCC, participated actively in the event.

Officials informed participants about the Panch Gaurav initiatives of Udaipur district and urged them to remain aware about their protection and promotion. Under the Panch Gaurav programme, marble and granite have been identified as “One District One Product”, swimming as “One District One Sport”, custard apple as “One District One Fruit”, mahua as “One District One Plant Species”, and Fatehsagar and Pichola lakes as “One District One Destination”.

Participants were encouraged to support the conservation and promotion of these identified district highlights. At the end of the event, participants who delivered outstanding performances were awarded prizes. The programme was conducted by SWEEP Cell In-charge Devilal Garg.
