Tranquilized after hours of rescue operation
Udaipur : Forest officials, police and public were in a panic mode for hours when a leopard sneaked into the Kotwali police station premises in Chittorgarh on Sunday. People finally sighed relied when the big cat was tranquilized after some 10 hours long rescue operation.
People left their homes and shifted to terraces of their buildings fearing the beast and watched impatiently for it to be caught. According to sources, an adult male leopard slipped into the residential area in Meera Nagar on saturday night and hid behind a house. In the morning few people saw the beast which roamed around the area and reached the veterinary hospital. The leopard was caught in various CCTV cameras in the area and before the forest department arrived, it managed to slip into the adjoining police station compound.
The police station staff was too terrified to know about the beast that they closed all the windows and doors of the police quarters and shifted to higher buildings.Meanwhile the forest officials arrived at the spot and laid a trap. Sensing the commotion the beast got inside a bush and stayed there for the whole day. Shooter Satnam Singh from Udaipur went to Chittorgarh to tranquilize the big cat.
People were asked to stay indoors while traffic movement was halted completely in the area. After dusk, search lights were arranged to continue the search operation and finally the leopard was caught and tranquilized.
