New Delhi, September 29 (Udaipur Kiran) : Delhi government minister Pravesh Verma is facing calls for an FIR as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj announced plans to approach the police commissioner’s office on Tuesday. Bhardwaj shared this information on the social media platform X, stating he would arrive at the commissioner’s office at 1 PM to demand action against Verma.
In a video posted on social media late Monday night, Bhardwaj expressed concern over the detention of AAP volunteers at various police stations, specifically mentioning an incident in Dwarka Sector 23. He stated, “It is past midnight, and our volunteers have been taken in. We will ask the police commissioner why an FIR has not been filed.”
Bhardwaj criticized the lack of action against Verma, stating, “It is shameful that no FIR has been registered against Pravesh Verma. When a dog lover slapped Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, an attempt to murder case was filed, and the accused was arrested immediately. He has been in jail for over a year.”
The official AAP account on X also condemned the police’s actions, claiming that instead of filing an FIR against Verma, the police were mistreating AAP leaders Bhardwaj and MLA Jarnail Singh, detaining them for the second consecutive night. They posed the question: “Will the FIR be against Pravesh Verma or those raising their voices?”
This political controversy erupted following a video that surfaced showing Verma slapping an individual during a road inspection in the city. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also criticized Prime Minister Modi in connection with the incident, suggesting that the government’s efforts to associate with youth were inadequate.
Responding to the allegations, Verma released a video asserting that the individual involved in the incident was not a youth but rather a “goon” associated with AAP. He directly challenged Kejriwal’s claims, stating, “The youth you are referring to is not a young person; he was your goon.”
