KL Rahul Praises Fearless Young Indian Batsmen in T20 Cricket

New Delhi, May 1: KL Rahul, the wicketkeeper-batsman for Delhi Capitals, has lauded the fearless attitude of young Indian batsmen in IPL 2026. He believes that their mindset of hitting sixes aligns perfectly with the demands of modern T20 cricket.

In IPL 2026, young Indian batsmen have showcased their talent, with players like Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, and Cooper Connolly, along with Sameer Rizvi and Ayush Mhatre, impressing everyone with their ability to hit sixes and deliver powerful innings.

Speaking on ‘GeoStar’, Rahul said, “What the new generation of cricketers is doing is remarkable. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created a stir in world cricket. Scoring two centuries at the age of 15 is something I never even dreamed of. Ayush Mhatre has also performed well and helped CSK score quickly. The speed at which new talents are emerging in India is astonishing, especially in T20 cricket.”

He added, “These fearless young players are changing the way T20 cricket is played. They are not intimidated by a player’s reputation or the match situation. Whether it’s a world-class bowler like Jasprit Bumrah or an experienced player like Pat Cummins, they approach every ball with the same intent. They don’t care if it’s the first over or the last; they just want to send the ball over the boundary. This kind of mindset is rarely seen, and it is exactly what modern T20 cricket needs.”

KL Rahul explained how IPL has completely transformed the batting culture in India, leading to the emergence of a new generation of six-hitting batsmen. He noted, “Five years ago, we were not able to produce batsmen who could hit as many sixes as those from England or Australia. But now, thanks to IPL, the situation has completely changed. These young players have grown up dreaming of hitting sixes. When we were young, we had to learn to stop the ball and leave it. If someone hit the ball in the air, they were made to sit out from the nets. That was a different era. These young players practice hitting sixes continuously, which is why they are so good.”

Concluding his remarks, KL Rahul mentioned that he has tried to incorporate the batting skills of some of these promising youngsters into his own game. He said, “I recently spoke to Abhishek Sharma. What I learned is that their preparation gives them confidence. It all depends on how hard they train. I have also tried to bring that into my game.”
