Indian Army Veteran Brigadier Kuldip Singh Gulia Commemorates Infantry Day with 100 km Walk

Jaipur : Brigadier Kuldip Singh Gulia, a veteran of the Sikh Regiment of the Indian Army, walked 103 km (more than 1 lakh steps) in Jaipur on 27 October to commemorate Infantry Day 2023.

He started his journey early in the morning along with troops of 17 SIKH and 4 Kumaon and civil enthusiasts, who walked along with him at various locations. Starting his journey from Mahadev Nagar, the veteran walked to 17 SIKH Gurudwara (Jaipur Military Station) in a first. Then he traversed to Mahadev Nagar Park through Vijay Dwar and walked to Prerna Sthal, War Memorial of South Western Command via Haldi Ghati Gate. Herein, Brig Gulia paid tribute to valiant soldiers on the occasion of Infantry Day.

After paying homage, he moved to the city area through Sapta Shakti Gate, Bani Park towards Albert Hall via Chandpole, Chhoti Chaupad, Hawa Mahal, and Chaura Rasta. Then he moved to the Central Park–C Scheme/Civil Lines for the last 30-40 km, to finish the 100 km walk around his residence in Mahadev Nagar.

Brig Gulia turns 76 on 28 October and dedicates his walk and life journey to Bharat Mata. Each of his 100 steps represents the brave sacrifice and valor of one of the 1000 soldiers who made up the 1 Sikh Battle Group. By this 14-15 hour continuous walk mission, Brigadier Gulia inspired citizens to join him in honoring the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of Indian Army and Infantry soldiers.

Brigadier KS Gulia has earlier explored almost all ridges and forts around Jaipur and Sariska, trekked across all Indian Himalayan states while trekking over 60-70 kilometers in a single day on numerous occasions after turning 70 years old. He has written books and contributed towards a total of 20 volumes of encyclopedias including Himalayan Studies and Human Ecology.
