‘Indian 2’ Box Office Collection Day 1: Kamal Haasan starrer earns Rs 260 Crore in India

'Indian 2' Box Office Collection Day 1

The sequel to the 1996 cult classic The Indian hit theaters yesterday, July 12th. Hindi film 2 directed by Shankar, Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Sinha, Priya Bhavani Shankar, SJ Surya, Samothirakani and others also played roles.

The other lead characters of this film received different reactions from fans and audience after its release in Tamil, Telugu (Bharateyudu 2) and Hindi (Hindutani 2).

The film was initially expected to gross Rs 50 million on its opening day, but due to several negative reviews, it only grossed Rs 26 million at the Indian box office.

According to Sakuniluk, the film has grossed ₹17 crore in Tamil, ₹77 crore in Telugu and ₹12 crore in the Hindi version, apart from ₹26 crore at the box office in India and North America.

Hindi 2: Zero Tolerance is a no-nonsense action thriller and Kamal plays Senapasi, a freedom fighter against corruption, and lives up to his title role. The sequel did not live up to the original’s standards and fans were disappointed that both the actors and director had lost interest in the film.

“Inidan 2” failed at the box office no more than Kamal Hassan’s previous two films. 2898 AD grossed Rs 950 crore while Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram collected Rs 660 crore on its first day. Apart from ‘Hindi 2’, Kamal Haasan’s sequel ‘Vishwaroopam 2’, which released in 2018, also did not fare well at the box office as a prequel.

While the first part of Vishwaroopam collected Rs 200 Crores on the opening day, the second part managed to collect Rs 770 Crores on the opening day.
