
Raipur, July 13 (Udaipur Kiran): The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in Bastar, Kondagaon, Dantewada, Sukma, Kanker, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Rajnandgaon, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandi, Balod, Jashpur and Balrampur districts. There is a possibility of heavy rain at one or two places in the state till July 14. Monsoon activities remained subdued on Thursday. Light rain occurred at a few places. At the same time, normal rain occurred in 14 districts.
217.9 mm of rain has been recorded in Chhattisgarh from June 1 to July 12. Monsoon had entered the state on June 8 via Sukma and monsoon has been active in the entire state since June 23.
According to meteorologist HP Chandra, the monsoon trough is located at mean sea level over Amritsar, Chandigarh, Gorakhpur and then eastwards to Nagaland. An upper air cyclonic circulation is also located over East Bihar and its surrounding areas at a height of 5.8 km. Due to its effect, light to moderate rain will occur in most parts of the state on Saturday.
It is noteworthy that in Chhattisgarh, there has been only 42.7 i.e. an average of 3.5 rain daily in the last two weeks. Meteorologists said that if there is no good rain in the coming days, the problem may increase. Farmers are also worried due to lack of good rains. Due to the expected rains in the state, farming is also getting lagging behind. According to meteorologists, there was no good rain in the state due to the monsoon break. They hope that from Saturday, the monsoon break situation will improve and the scope of rain will also increase. In the past, 8 cm of rain fell in Ambikapur, 6 cm in Barsur-Bhaisma, 5 cm in Manendragarh, 4 cm in Janjgir-Champa.
According to the information compiled by the state-level control room set up by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department of the state government, 217.9 mm average rainfall has been recorded in the state so far from June 1, 2024. According to the rainfall recorded in different districts of the state from June 1, 2024 to 12th July morning today, the highest average rainfall of 361.9 mm was recorded in Bijapur district and the lowest average rainfall of 107.3 mm in Surguja district. The highest maximum temperature in the state on Friday was recorded at 34 degrees in Rajnandgaon. The minimum temperature was 21.2 degrees in Narayanpur.
