Three people including a woman and her infant daughter died in a landslide in Rolpa district this morning. Four persons lost their lives in Parsa, Sindhuli, Banke and Kailali districts due to heavy downpour.
Incessant rain has also affected life in various parts of Tarai and hills. Many areas in Parsa, Nawalparasi and Banke districts have been inundated following heavy rains.
More than twelve hundred Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims, mostly from India, are stranded in Nepalgunj, Simikot and Hilsa as flights have been suspended due to bad weather.
Indian Embassy medical personnel conducts health check up of stranded Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims
The Embassy of India has stationed its representatives in Nepalganj and Simikot. They are personally in touch with all stranded pilgrims and extending all possible support including best possible stay and availability of food and water.
The Embassy has also deputed medical personnel in Simikot to carry health check up and provide medical aid to elderly pilgrims. The mission is also looking at various alternative routes for evacuation.
The local airlines operating on the route have been asked to ensure availability of extra aircraft in Nepalganj to have maximum possible sorties as soon as weather clears up so that all stranded pilgrims can be evacuated. The Embassy is also looking at the possibility of evacuating critical cases by the helicopter.
