A government school in Malviya Nagar in Delhi runs a Judo academy where children of different faiths, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, all practice Judo and even pray together. The academy is filled with young talent, which could bring laurels to the country some day.
The academy is run by Sports Authority of India and is being managed by Dronacharya awardee Gurcharan Gogi and Suman Gogi. They trained Olympian Yashpal Solanki, who imparted his skills to Avtar Singh, making him qualify for the Olympics.
The academy works towards social harmony teaching important lessons for humanity. During the month of Ramazan, the children shared in the rozas of their friends. Similarly, they celebrate Diwali, Id, Holi, Guru Purav. These children have a pluralistic understanding of life and their parents too have imbibed practice of universal brotherhood.
Another important facet of the academy is that training is free and no child is turned away for lack of money.
This academy has trained many national and international medal winners and many more are on the way.
