
The HMD Barbie Flip Phone was first announced in February at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, building on the hype created by the film starring Margot Robbie. The device is scheduled to launch on August 28, but little is known about it. However, it was reportedly spotted on a Chinese certification website ahead of its global launch, which hinted at some of its expected specs and design. The design is intended to showcase Barbie’s iconic pink color.

According to a report by MySmartPrice, the HMD Flip Phone with model number TA-1681 has been spotted in China’s TENAA database. The alleged images and listing confirm a previous leak that speculated about the shape of the foldable phone based on previous Nokia phones. It reportedly comes in a two-tone pink color.
According to the alleged images, it appears that the Barbie Flip Phone’s volume and power buttons are on the right side, while the 3.5mm headphone jack and charging port are on the left side. A previous teaser from HMD confirmed that “Barbie” branding will be featured on the front.
It is said that this foldable phone will come with a dual display. The main display can be a 2.8 inch TFT panel with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and the outer panel can be a 1.77 inch TFT display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The listing suggests that it may be powered by a single-core processor clocked at 1.05GHz along with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of storage. The storage space can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card. It will be equipped with a T9 QWERTY keyboard.
Visually, the HMD Barbie flip phone will apparently have a single rear camera with an LED flash. It can be equipped with a 1450mAh battery. The dimensions of the device are 108 x 55 x 18.9 and its weight is 123 grams. The list of reported connectivity options includes 4G LTE support, dual SIM functionality, Bluetooth and USB.
