Jaipur, September 4 (Kiran News). The monsoon remains active across Rajasthan, with the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur issuing a rain alert for 26 districts on Thursday. Heavy showers have disrupted normal life in many areas, including Jaipur, Dausa, and Sawai Madhopur. Considering the situation, schools in Dausa district have been closed for the day.

In Jaipur, two hours of heavy downpour on Wednesday led to severe waterlogging across the city, from the old quarters to upscale colonies. Water entered homes in Hawa Mahal, Chandi ki Taksal, and Subhash Chowk, while areas like Malviya Nagar, Tonk Road, Narayan Singh Circle, and C-Scheme witnessed traffic snarls and hours of water stagnation. Power supply was also hit in Jawahar Nagar and Raja Park.
Tragedies were reported from other parts of the state. In Jhunjhunu, a house roof collapse claimed one life, while in Jhalawar, a woman was killed by lightning. A landslide in Kota disrupted railway tracks, halting train operations for several hours. In Dausa, two policemen were injured when a police van collided with a truck amid heavy rain.
According to official rainfall data from the past 24 hours, several regions recorded intense showers. Sikar’s Ramgarh-Shekhawati reported 54 mm, Neem ka Thana 30 mm, Sawai Madhopur’s Wazirpur 72 mm, Nagaur’s Khimsar 41 mm, and Pali’s Desuri 38 mm. Bharatpur’s Nagar received 55 mm, Rupbas 54 mm, and Bhusawar 25 mm. Bundi’s Hindoli logged 70 mm, Bhilwara’s Shakkargarh 58 mm, and Chittorgarh’s Bhadesar 43 mm of rainfall.
Radheyshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, said that a low-pressure area over the north Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure system (WML). It is expected to move towards Odisha and Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours, leading to an increase in rainfall activity.
He added that moderate to heavy rainfall, with isolated very heavy showers, is likely in the eastern and southeastern parts of Kota, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, and Jaipur divisions over the next 3–4 days. Rain activity is also expected to increase in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions from September 5, with heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast in parts of Jodhpur division between September 5 and 7.
