Noida, April 28: The ongoing heatwave is taking a toll on the health of residents in Noida, with a significant increase in hospital visits. The intense sunlight and heat have led to a spike in patients at outpatient departments (OPDs) across hospitals.
Children and the elderly are particularly affected, with doctors reporting a rise in cases of dehydration, heatstroke, vomiting, diarrhea, and general weakness. Thousands of patients are arriving at hospitals daily.
According to data, on April 24, 2026, a total of 2,769 patients were registered in OPDs, while 1,954 patients registered through the Aadhar scan. That same day, 372 additional cases were recorded, including 328 dog bite incidents. The situation remained similar on April 25, with 2,653 patients visiting OPDs and 1,898 using the Aadhar scan, alongside 223 other cases, of which 184 were dog bites. However, an even greater increase in patient numbers was observed on April 27, with 3,022 patients visiting OPDs and 2,158 registering via Aadhar scan. There were 471 additional cases reported, including 427 dog bite incidents, raising concerns.
Doctors indicate that the extreme heat is causing dehydration, worsening the condition of many individuals. The lower immunity levels in children and the elderly make them more susceptible to illness. Health experts advise the public to avoid going out during the afternoon, drink plenty of water, consume light and nutritious meals, and cover their heads when exposed to sunlight.
