Udaipur, May 20: A shocking incident has emerged from Jharkhand’s Giridih district, where the body of an 11th-grade student, Payal Kumari, was discovered on the banks of the Usri River after she had been missing for two days. The police have taken possession of the body and initiated an investigation into the case.
Payal, a resident of Sirsiya in the Muffasil police station area, left her home on Monday morning. According to her family, she was pursuing studies while also undergoing sewing training and tutoring children. She had informed her family that she was heading for tuition and sewing classes.
Her family stated that she usually returned home by afternoon, but when she did not return on Monday, they attempted to contact her. They reported that Payal had informed them over the phone that she was leaving the block and would be home soon. However, shortly after, her phone was found to be switched off. The family began searching for her but could not find any leads.
Later, they reported the matter to the police. Authorities began investigating her mobile call details and questioned her friends and acquaintances. On Wednesday morning, they received information about a young woman’s body found near the old bridge at the Usri River. Upon arrival, the police identified the body as that of Payal Kumari.
The news of the body discovery attracted a large crowd to the scene, with family members in deep distress. Payal’s cousin, Pintu Kumar Das, has called for a fair investigation and strict action against those responsible. Following the incident, SDPO Jeet Bahen Oraon and police officer Vivek Madhuri arrived at the site to inspect the situation. The SDPO confirmed that a missing person’s report had already been filed and that the police are considering all aspects of the investigation.
