New Delhi, August 12 (Udaipur Kiran): A Supreme Court bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna has postponed the hearing for six weeks on the criminal defamation case filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The case relates to Kejriwal’s retweet of a tweet by YouTuber Dhruv Rathee concerning the BJP IT cell.
During today’s hearing, Kejriwal’s lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, informed the Supreme Court that Kejriwal wishes to resolve the defamation case by offering an apology to the complainant. Singhvi requested more time to prepare the apology, mentioning that Kejriwal is currently dealing with various matters.
In response, the complainant’s lawyer agreed to grant time but emphasized that it should not be indefinite. They requested that the draft of the apology be circulated today for further discussion. Following this, the court ordered the hearing to be deferred for six weeks.
