Ahmedabad, March 15: A small fire broke out at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Sunday. According to officials, the fire occurred in a temporary cabin located in a non-operational area in front of Terminal-1. The blaze was quickly controlled, and airport operations were not affected.
The incident took place around 2:43 PM outside the aircraft operations area. Initial reports indicate that the fire started near the air cargo section of the airport, close to an old building known as GUJSAIL.
Smoke was seen rising into the sky following the fire, prompting airport authorities to take immediate action. Security personnel and staff on-site promptly notified the airport’s fire service.
The airport’s aerodrome rescue and firefighting team arrived quickly and began extinguishing the fire. Within a few minutes, they managed to bring the situation under control, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and there was no damage to property. An airport spokesperson stated that the fire team acted swiftly, and flight operations continued normally, causing no inconvenience to passengers.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. Airport administration officials are examining the affected cabin and surrounding areas. Authorities have indicated that detailed information regarding the cause of the fire will be shared once the investigation is complete.
