Earth Hour Receives Widespread Public Support in Udaipur: CCF Sunil Chhidri Leads Cyclothon with a Powerful Message

Udaipur, March 22 – In a remarkable show of environmental consciousness and community participation, Earth Hour 2025 was marked with overwhelming support from citizens, educational institutions, environmental groups, and government officials in Udaipur and neighboring districts. The highlight of the event was a symbolic cyclothon held at Fatehsagar Pal, flagged off by Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Udaipur – Mr. Sunil Chhidri, who led the initiative alongside his two children, setting an inspiring example for the city.

Cyclothon on World Water Day Promotes Conservation Awareness

Organized by WWF-India’s Udaipur Division, the cyclothon coincided with World Water Day and aimed to amplify the message of energy and water conservation under the Earth Hour theme. Speaking at the event, CCF Sunil Chhidri emphasized the critical importance of conserving natural resources and the need for sustainable lifestyle practices. Over 130 registered participants, including citizens from diverse walks of life, took part in the early morning ride.

Prof. Col. S.S. Sarangdevot, Vice-Chancellor of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, urged the public to join hands in making Earth Hour a mass movement. He announced that under the guidance of Dr. Indrajeet Mathur, all constituent colleges of the university would actively participate, with thousands of students, teachers, and families pledging their support.

In a parallel initiative, Dr. Pradeep Kumawat, Director of Alok Sansthan, unveiled the official Earth Hour 2025 poster and confirmed participation of over 2,000 students and faculty members from the Alok family in a range of awareness activities throughout the week.

Educational Institutions Lead from the Front

Dr. Hemant Dhabhai shared that Aravali College witnessed active participation of over 800 students and faculty members, with a series of programs promoting energy conservation and sustainable living.

In a noteworthy collaboration, Radisson Nathdwara also switched off its lights during Earth Hour and partnered with WWF India to organize a lineup of awareness campaigns, competitions, and prize ceremonies in observance of World Water Day.

Across Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, and other regions, schools and institutions organized vibrant competitions and educational drives under the Earth Hour initiative, including:

These efforts aligned with World Sparrow Day, International Day of Forests, and World Water Day, engaging thousands of students and teachers and making the campaign a regional success.
