Cyclone Tej to intensify into severe cyclonic storm by Sunday

Cyclone Tej is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Sunday, October 23, 2023. The storm is currently located in the Arabian Sea, about 1,100 kilometers south-southeast of Salalah Airport in Oman.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for fishermen in the Arabian Sea to not venture into the sea. The IMD has also advised residents along the southern coast of Oman and Yemen to take necessary precautions, as the storm is expected to make landfall in the region on October 25.

The IMD has predicted that Cyclone Tej will have wind speeds of up to 117 kilometers per hour. The storm is also expected to bring heavy rainfall and storm surges to the affected areas.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. They should also secure their homes and belongings, and stock up on essential supplies.
