Udaipur : In a significant move to safeguard Udaipur’s historical heritage, Ami Sansthan has launched an ambitious campaign to preserve the city’s ancient stepwells. The initiative aims to bring attention to neglected stepwells like Sundar Bawdi and Toran Bawdi through cultural events and community engagement.
A recent program titled “Sangeet Salila”, held at Toran Bawdi, served as a platform to raise awareness about heritage conservation and water preservation.
Ami Sansthan’s Vision for Heritage Protection
Yogesh Kumawat, Vice President of Ami Sansthan, emphasized the need for sustained efforts to revive Udaipur’s stepwells. He announced plans to conduct similar activities monthly to ensure these heritage structures regain their historical prominence.
Dr. Shivdan Singh Jolawas, the program coordinator, stated, “Events like these highlight the importance of water conservation and cultural preservation, inspiring communities to take action.”
Cultural Extravaganza Inspires Conservation Efforts
The program featured mesmerizing performances by renowned artists Ashraf Khan and Debu Khan, who captivated the audience with traditional songs like “Bevdo,” “Paniharin,” “Jhir Mir Meh,” and “Sagar Pani Bharwa.” Their soulful renditions brought the rich cultural heritage of the region to life.
Dr. Chandrapratap Singh Chauhan, the chief guest and a prominent social worker, highlighted the importance of collective efforts, saying, “Government resources are limited, but with community support, we can successfully preserve these treasures.”
Water Conservation: A Collective Responsibility
Presiding over the event, Deputy Town Planner Arvind Singh Kanawat addressed children and emphasized the critical need for water conservation. He warned, “Future conflicts may arise over water scarcity, making it essential to act now to save every drop of water.” His message underscored the importance of safeguarding natural resources as a shared responsibility.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Swaroop Singh Chauhan, who acknowledged the support of the guests and reiterated the program’s dual aim of providing a platform for local artists and promoting tourism.
