Gorakhpur, January 3 – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, also the Peethadhishwar of Gorakhnath Temple, conducted a Rudrabhishek ceremony on Friday morning, offering prayers to Lord Shiva for the welfare of the nation and the prosperity of its citizens. The ceremony coincided with the auspicious occasion of Pausha Shukla Chaturthi (Vinayak Chaturthi).
The ritual culminated with a havan, as CM Yogi adhered to traditional Vedic practices.

Sacred Offerings and Rituals
The Rudrabhishek was performed at the Shakti Peeth on the first floor of the Gorakhnath Temple’s Peethadhishwar residence. The Chief Minister offered sacred items, including:
- Bilva leaves, lotus flowers, durva grass, and other auspicious materials.
- A combination of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and holy water from various pilgrimage sites was used for the ritual ablution of Lord Mahadev.
The ceremony was officiated by the temple’s learned priests, who recited the powerful mantras from the Rudrashtadhyayi of the Shukla Yajurveda Samhita.
Completion of the Ceremony
Following the Rudrabhishek, CM Yogi conducted a havan amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns. With the completion of the rituals, he prayed to Lord Shiva for:
- The welfare and prosperity of the nation.
- The health, happiness, and peace of all citizens.
