Patna, May 2: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary offered prayers at the renowned Vishnupad Temple in Gaya on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima. He performed religious rituals in the sanctum sanctorum and later reviewed key infrastructure and development projects in the region.
After visiting the temple, the Chief Minister inspected the Falgu River and the Gaya Rubber Dam, assessing ongoing works and local conditions. He sought detailed information from officials about the progress of the ambitious Vishnupad Corridor project, aimed at enhancing facilities for pilgrims and promoting religious tourism.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister arrived at Gaya’s Gandhi Maidan by helicopter. His convoy then proceeded to the temple complex via Kashi Nath Mor and the District Collector’s office.
On Buddha Purnima, a special event titled “Religious Harmony in Indian Tradition” was held at the Shankaracharya Math under the National Seminar and Cultural Awareness Initiative, where the Chief Minister was the chief guest. Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar was also present at the event.
In light of the heavy crowd of devotees for the occasion, strict security measures were implemented in Gaya and Bodhgaya. A large contingent of senior administrative officials and police personnel was deployed throughout the area.
To manage the crowd and ensure smooth traffic, general devotees were temporarily restricted from entering the temple shortly before the Chief Minister’s arrival, to prevent any disruption to the prayers and security protocols.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited Nalanda district, where he prayed at a local temple in Pranvan village for the prosperity of Bihar. He was given a guard of honor by the police at the temple complex.
Recalling previous initiatives, he mentioned that former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had granted ‘state fair’ status to the birthplace of Baba Sharan Mahato in 2018. The government plans to acquire land for future events and construct a dedicated road connecting the site to the main route.
Emphasizing education reforms, the Chief Minister announced that model schools and colleges would be established in all 534 blocks of Bihar, aiming to provide high-quality education that officials and public representatives would prioritize for their children.
