Kolkata, 2 September (Kiran News): A day after the Army removed a Trinamool Congress (TMC) stage from Mayo Road, Kolkata witnessed a confrontation between the Army and city police. On Tuesday morning, Kolkata Police detained an Army truck near BBD Bagh, alleging dangerous driving, and took the vehicle to Hare Street police station.

According to police sources, the military truck was travelling from Fort William towards the Income Tax building when Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma’s convoy was passing by. Police claim the truck was being driven in a reckless and dangerous manner, posing a security risk.
However, Army sources stated that the truck was moving at a normal speed and the issue arose only because the vehicles behind were travelling faster. According to the Army, two officers were travelling from Fort William to the Passport Office in the truck.
Army officials have been informed about the incident. The truck is currently being held at Hare Street police station, and an investigation is underway.
This incident comes just a day after the Army had removed a TMC ‘Language Movement’ stage from Mayo Road, which had already sparked political controversy.
