Iran Will Not Compromise on National Interests: President Pajeshkian

Tehran, June 30: President Masoud Pajeshkian reiterated that Iran will not back down from its people’s rights and national interests under any circumstances. He clarified that negotiations with the United States were conducted within the framework of the government’s general policies.

According to the Tasnim news agency, he stated that Tehran has neither accepted nor will accept any demands imposed by “enemies” during the negotiations with the U.S.

During an extensive meeting with scholars at a madrasa, Pajeshkian emphasized that the government has made efforts to protect the rights of the Iranian people and safeguard national interests with respect and strength throughout all stages of the negotiations.

Addressing questions regarding the negotiation process, he said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran will not retreat from the rights of the people, fundamental principles, and national interests under any circumstances. The country’s main reliance is on Almighty God, the people, and the leadership of the government.”

He further added that all stages of the negotiations were conducted within the framework of the government’s general policies, in full and continuous coordination with the Supreme Leader (Revolutionary Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei), and remained within the bounds of the country’s legal systems.

The President also mentioned that despite existing limitations and security considerations, the final draft of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was reviewed at the expert and security levels by the relevant authorities and received strong support from members of the Supreme National Security Council.

He criticized certain factions that, according to him, are attempting to undermine “achievements” by discrediting the negotiating team and questioning national decisions.

On Monday, Pajeshkian also claimed during an event in Com that $6 billion of Iran’s $12 billion trapped in Qatar will be released soon. He stated that lifting sanctions on the oil and petrochemical sectors will also provide relief to the country’s economy.

According to the President, “This step is part of the agreement reached during negotiations in Switzerland and the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).”
