Apple plans to use artificial intelligence (AI) to make Siri smarter. As Bloomberg’s Mark Garman reports, the new Siri lets you control apps on your iPhone or iPad using just your voice.
To achieve this, sources say Apple had to redesign the way Siri works using its own large language model, codenamed Ajax.

Using new AI models, iPhone users can open specific documents, move notes from one folder to another, send or delete emails, open specific news articles, and now even ask Siri to perform actions like summarizing.
itself Garman first suggests that this new Siri will only work with Apple’s own apps and will be limited in what it can do. Over time, Apple plans to have Siri handle hundreds of different commands.
Apple is expected to unveil a new AI-powered Siri at its annual WWDC developer conference on June 10, but it won’t be available until next year as part of the iOS 18 update. May not be available.
This allows Apple to benefit from the reported OpenAI contract until improvements are made. As part of this agreement, the company will expand Siri with ChatGPT, making conversations better and more natural.
Some people have concerns about privacy in AI, but Apple has repeatedly stated that user safety and privacy is a priority for AI. The company plans to reassure customers by deploying Secure Enclave technology in its data centers and providing “insight reports” that explain how user data is protected.
