New Delhi, August 30: Amid ongoing statements and protests regarding reservation, Dr. Sanghpriya Rahul, the head of the Indian Buddhist Union, asserted that the reservation based on Dr. Ambedkar’s Poona Pact will never be abolished, but rather has been strengthened under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He criticized the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Aam Aadmi Party for spreading confusion about the potential end of reservation.
Dr. Rahul stated, “In India, there are various statements regarding reservation, protests at Jantar Mantar, and emotions among people that reservation should be abolished. The Poona Pact made by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was our agreement. Based on this agreement, we received reservation. It has only become stronger with the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Reservation will never end.”
He emphasized that misinformation is being spread, particularly by the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Aam Aadmi Party, claiming that reservation will be abolished. “I boldly say that as long as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in power, no one can abolish reservation,” he added.
Dr. Rahul further mentioned that discussions will be held with intellectuals and the Dalit community based on mutual agreements. He urged people to understand that the reservation will not end but will be reinforced. “Those who wish to abolish reservation are not true Indians; they do not have the country’s best interests at heart,” he said.
Regarding reservation reforms, he stated that while the government should make decisions, the reservation for Dalits should not be abolished. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice for introducing significant laws that impact Dalit Christians and Muslims regarding reservation.
He concluded by asserting that the reservation for Dalits will not only remain but will become stronger. Dr. Ambedkar also suggested that India’s currency should change every ten years, and political reservation should be reconsidered. However, the fundamental reservation that provides dignity and self-respect to Dalits should remain until equality is achieved in the country.
