Jaipur/Udaipur, February 24, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) – Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari on Tuesday informed the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) worth ₹275.68 crore has been prepared for the implementation of the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit Development Scheme.

She said that the review committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Rajasthan Heritage Authority approved the execution of works as per the DPR on February 3, 2026.
Responding to supplementary questions raised by MLA Deepti Kiran Maheshwari during Question Hour, the Tourism Minister said that the development of any new tourism circuit creates direct and indirect employment opportunities for local residents. The state government will prioritise providing maximum employment to local people.
She added that the project will generate opportunities for local material suppliers and labourers. Besides this, those associated with tour operations, guides, hotels, parking facilities, cafeterias, souvenir shops, handicrafts and homestays are also expected to benefit economically.
The Minister said that before developing assets under the scheme, consultations will be held with local bodies regarding their proper maintenance and operation. Regular monitoring of these assets will be carried out through the District Tourism Development Committee chaired by the District Collector.
She clarified that currently there is no provision to link the circuit with any other digital promotion scheme. However, the department will undertake publicity of the proposed sites through various communication channels, including print media, electronic media, social media, departmental platforms and printed materials to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
In a written reply to the original question, she stated that under paragraph 55 of the Budget Speech for 2024-25 (February 8, 2024), an announcement was made to develop the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit by including important sites associated with Maharana Pratap’s life such as Chavand, Haldighati, Gogunda, Kumbhalgarh, Diwer and Udaipur, with a budget provision of ₹100 crore.
For implementation of the project, Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation and the Rajasthan Heritage Authority have been appointed as executing agencies. Monitoring of the works will be carried out by the Rajasthan Heritage Authority.
She further informed that financial and administrative approval of ₹100 crore was issued in January 2025 for preparation of the DPR. An amount of ₹2,83,500 has been spent on the concept project report prepared by the Rajasthan Heritage Authority. Considering that the Maharana Pratap Circuit Project is linked to the pride and public faith of Mewar, meetings were held at various levels to prepare the project outline and work plan, incorporating suggestions received during consultations.
The process for financial approval of the DPR is currently underway. Development works will commence after financial sanction is granted.
