
New Delhi, August 14 (Udaipur Kiran) – The sale of passenger vehicles (PV) in India saw a decline in July. Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in July decreased by 2.5% year-on-year to 3,41,510 units. In July 2023, the wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 3,50,355 units.
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) released a statement on Wednesday, indicating that wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in July 2024 dropped by 2.5% to 3,41,510 units. In July 2023, the wholesale sales were 3,50,355 units. According to the data, utility vehicles continued to boost passenger vehicle sales, with a 4.1% increase in sales to 1,88,217 units in July, compared to 1,80,831 units in July 2023.
SIAM also reported that sales of passenger cars in July 2024 decreased by 12% to 96,652 units, compared to 1,09,859 units in the same month last year. On the other hand, wholesale sales of two-wheelers in July increased by 12.5% to 14,41,694 units, compared to 12,82,054 units in July 2023. Motorcycle wholesale sales in July 2024 rose by 4.1% to 8,50,489 units, compared to 8,17,206 units in July 2023.
Additionally, scooter sales in July 2024 surged by 29.2% to 5,53,642 units, compared to 4,28,640 units during the same period a year ago. Wholesale sales of three-wheelers also increased by 5.1% to 59,073 units, up from 56,204 units in July 2023.
SIAM President Vinod Aggarwal stated that while the three-wheeler and two-wheeler segments are performing well, there has been a slight decline in the sales of passenger and commercial vehicles in July 2024 compared to July 2023.
