Jaipur, June 2 — The weather in Rajasthan has started to shift dramatically, offering much-needed respite from the ongoing heatwave. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh Western Disturbance became active over the state from Monday, affecting several divisions including Bikaner, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, and Udaipur. The disturbance is expected to cause thunderstorms and rain between June 2 and 5, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.

Rain Alerts Issued in 30 Districts
The IMD has issued rain alerts for 30 districts of the state on June 2. Out of these, 17 districts including Jaipur are under an Orange Alert, signaling the possibility of severe weather conditions, while 13 districts have been placed under a Yellow Alert for moderate weather activity.
On Sunday, temperatures across most of Rajasthan dropped below 41°C, with Jaisalmer recording the highest at 41°C. Cities like Jaipur, Kota, Churu, Barmer, and Bikaner saw maximum temperatures hovering around 40°C, while Bikaner and Churu recorded the lowest daytime temperature at 30.7°C—a significant drop compared to last week.
Relief from Night-Time Heat and Persistent Humidity
There has also been a noticeable drop in night-time temperatures, with the mercury falling below 30°C in most cities. However, humidity remained high in places like Jaipur, causing discomfort throughout the day despite the dip in temperature.
Storm Damage Reported in Bharatpur
In Nadbai area of Bharatpur district, strong afternoon winds caused trees and walls to collapse. A wall fell on a tin-roofed house, injuring five people. Locals responded promptly, clearing debris and rescuing the injured.
Elsewhere, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning was recorded in Kota, Udaipur, and parts of Bharatpur division. Sikar also witnessed early morning showers, which brought down temperatures and offered relief from the intense heat.
Outlook
The active weather pattern is expected to continue for the next few days, especially in eastern and southern Rajasthan. Residents are advised to remain alert to weather updates and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and strong winds.
