New Delhi, September 12 (Kiran News): Newly elected Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan will take oath today at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath at a ceremony scheduled for 10 AM.

Radhakrishnan was elected as the 15th Vice President of India on Tuesday, defeating opposition candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy. The election was necessitated after former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned suddenly on July 21.
Announcing the results, Rajya Sabha Secretary General and Returning Officer P.C. Mody said that 767 out of 781 MPs cast their votes, marking a 98.2% turnout. NDA candidate Radhakrishnan secured 452 votes, while his rival Reddy polled 300 votes.
Following the results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Radhakrishnan, expressing confidence that he will further strengthen India’s constitutional values and contribute positively to parliamentary dialogue.
After his election, Radhakrishnan resigned as the Governor of Maharashtra. The President has assigned Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, additional charge of Maharashtra until a new appointment is made.
