Udaipur, May 4 (Udaipur Kiran): The possibility of restarting the Vande Bharat train service between Udaipur and Jaipur has gained momentum, with the Railways reviewing passenger demand and exploring options to enhance capacity on the route.

The Jaipur–Udaipur Vande Bharat train, which was introduced in September 2023 and operated six days a week, was later split into two services—Udaipur to Agra and Udaipur to Jaipur—running three days each. The Jaipur route had started witnessing strong passenger occupancy. However, the service was discontinued in February and replaced with a train operating between Udaipur and Asarva, which is currently running.
There is now renewed demand to extend the service again up to Jaipur, and the Railways is said to be seriously considering the proposal. Expectations are that operations on this route could resume in the near future.
The resumption of the Vande Bharat service is expected to significantly benefit Udaipur’s tourism sector. Faster and more comfortable connectivity between Jaipur and Udaipur could attract more domestic and international tourists, boosting hotels, travel businesses, and local trade.
Concerns have also been raised over repeated changes in railway decisions regarding the Vande Bharat service. It has been suggested that the current train could be extended from Udaipur to Surat or Bandra via Ahmedabad to improve passenger load. Additionally, there are suggestions to introduce a separate Vande Bharat train on the Jaipur route, potentially extending it further to Agra via Jaipur, which is expected to generate strong passenger demand.
