New Delhi, August 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation through the 137th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’. During the program, he highlighted the patriotic spirit that fills the air in August, a month marked by various national celebrations. He noted the significance of events such as National Handloom Day, the anniversary of the Quit India Movement, and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, which enhance the sense of national pride among citizens. The celebrations of Independence Day and National Space Day further instill a sense of pride in every Indian. The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign strengthens this sentiment.
PM Modi emphasized that this year is particularly special as it marks the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’. Over 8 million selfies with the national flag have been uploaded this year. The celebration of the Tiranga has transcended borders, with the flag embarking on a unique journey worldwide through the ‘Surya Path Tiranga’. The Tiranga was unfurled in Suva, Fiji, at sunrise, followed by Indian missions and posts across Asia, Africa, Europe, and as far as San Francisco in the United States. He expressed awe at the magnificent scenes this journey must have created.
As the sun moved across the globe, the Indian flag waved in unison, symbolizing unity and deepening the connection with the nation. He congratulated everyone involved in these efforts.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the hard work of millions of women on the streets of cities and towns, engaged in various trades from selling vegetables and fruits to running tea stalls and selling flowers and worship materials. He noted that sometimes, a lack of capital hinders their businesses from progressing.
