Lucknow, October 3 (Udaipur Kiran News): In view of security concerns following last week’s tension over the ‘I Love Mohammad’ controversy in Bareilly, the Uttar Pradesh administration has heightened vigilance across the state. Authorities have deployed heavy police forces in Bareilly and suspended internet and messaging services for 48 hours.
According to police headquarters, senior officers across all districts and commissionerates have been instructed to ensure peaceful conduct of Friday prayers. Police have been directed to take strict action against anyone attempting to disturb law and order.
Following the orders, security has been tightened in Lucknow, Kanpur, Saharanpur, Unnao, and other districts. In Bareilly, in addition to extra police deployment, authorities are monitoring sensitive areas using CCTV cameras and drones. The internet suspension came into effect from Thursday afternoon as a precautionary measure.
Police officials said that special surveillance is being maintained around mosques, and senior officers are patrolling sensitive and highly sensitive areas with their teams. The Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) has also been activated. The cyber cell is monitoring all social media platforms, and strict action will be taken against those spreading rumours or misinformation.
The precautionary steps come after violent clashes erupted in Bareilly on September 26, when stones were pelted at the police. In response, police detained several accused, including Maulana Tauqeer Raza, identified as the alleged mastermind behind the unrest. So far, around 81 people have been arrested, and further arrests are underway.
