Leh, October 3 (Udaipur Kiran News): Signs of normalcy have begun to appear in Leh as authorities eased curfew restrictions on Friday, allowing shops and markets to open from 10 AM to 6 PM. After several days of shutdowns and restrictions, residents stepped out to resume their daily activities, though the atmosphere in the city remained cautious.

Markets in Leh, which had largely remained closed since the September 24 violence, reopened as shopkeepers lifted shutters and customers returned for essential purchases. Locals said the relaxation has provided relief to families and businesses struggling with limited supplies.
Officials said the decision to extend the relaxation was taken after reviewing the law and order situation, which has remained under control since the unrest. However, security forces continue to be deployed at sensitive locations to prevent any untoward incident.
The gradual return to normalcy began nearly ten days ago, following violent protests during which four civilians were killed in police firing, triggering widespread anger across Ladakh. In response, authorities imposed curfew in Leh and suspended internet services.
While movement restrictions have been eased, mobile internet services remain suspended. Officials added that further relaxations would be considered if peace continues, though public gatherings will remain prohibited for now.
