Udaipur : Tension prevailed for some hours in Udaipur city on Sunday evening after a Tablighi sect man’s body was not allowed to be buried in the Savina graveyard here. The family of the deceased took the body to a masjid situated at Thokar choraha and tried to bury the body in the open field there.
However, Hindu organizations opposed the attempt and made a massive protest on the streets causing commotion. Later the matter was solved after police authorities intervened and pacified the family of the deceased to shift the body to mortuary overnight and take it to theor paternal village on Monday morning. According to sources Nimbahera resident Sherkhan (65) have been living in MursheedNagar in Savina for some years.
Sherkhan died on Saturday night and his family members took the body for burial at the Savina graveyard meant for Muslim community. Locals denied burial permission claiming Khan a non believer and from other sect. The family took the body to a masjid where people of their sect came to pray. They tried to bury the body at a disputed land which according to their sect is a graveyard.
On getting information about burial rituals taking place, hundreds of volunteers from Hindu organizations gathered at the spot and created a large jam like situation. Additional SP Brijesh Soni, DySP Bhagwat Singh Hingar, Savina SHO Sanjeev Swami, Pratapnagar SHO Dr Hanwant Singh held the peace talks and additional forces were stationed till late. ” The issue has been settled and the body would be taken to Nimbahera on Monday morning at the deceased’s paternal home” DySP Hingad told Udaipur Kiran.
