New Delhi : The Supreme Court has reprimanded the Uttar Pradesh government in the case of 853 prisoners lodged unnecessarily in UP jails. The court told the UP government if it was not able to handle this matter, then the court could take this burden and handle the matter accordingly.

The UP government had sought additional time from the Court saying that it has not analysed the cases of 853 prisoners. The Supreme Court, annoyed by UP government’s reply, said if the government is not able to handle this issue, then Court will handle it.
