New Delhi, July 20: Spain has claimed the title of the FIFA World Cup 2026, defeating Argentina 1-0 in a thrilling final. The victory sparked celebrations across various cities in India, although many fans expressed disappointment over Argentina’s loss.

In Kuttayiadi, Kozhikode, fans took to the streets to celebrate Spain’s second championship win, dancing and singing while setting off fireworks. In contrast, fans of Argentina in Mumbai were visibly upset and angry. One fan remarked that Lionel Messi failed to deliver in the crucial match, which contributed to Argentina’s defeat. However, another fan praised Argentina’s overall performance in the tournament, acknowledging that Spain played better in the final with a strong defense.

In Shillong, fans enjoyed a special screening of the final match organized by the government and celebrated Spain’s victory while wearing jerseys of both teams. Muhammad Riaz Hamidullah, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh in India, expressed his expectations for a strong performance from Argentina in the final but conceded that Spain deserved to be champions for their superior gameplay.
