Udaipur, August 5: Narayan Seva Sansthan’s ongoing Shiv Katha continued with an inspiring discourse by the institution’s President, Prashant Agrawal, who highlighted the values of devotion, sacrifice, compassion, and selfless service through the story of Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati. He said Lord Shiva’s life is not only worthy of worship but also serves as a timeless example of dedication to the welfare of humanity.
Narrating the Shiv-Sati episode, Agrawal said that after Goddess Sati sacrificed her life in King Daksha’s yajna, Lord Shiva was overwhelmed with grief and wandered carrying her mortal remains on his shoulders. As his sorrow and cosmic dance disturbed the balance of creation, Lord Vishnu intervened by using the Sudarshan Chakra to separate Sati’s body. The body parts fell at different places across the Indian subcontinent, which later came to be revered as the 52 Shakti Peethas. Agrawal said Lord Shiva transformed his personal grief into a path of universal welfare, reflecting the true spirit of Lokmangal.
He further narrated how Lord Shiva withdrew to his abode, while the tyranny of the demon Tarakasura made it necessary for Shiva and Parvati to unite. The discourse described the rebirth of Sati as Goddess Parvati and her intense penance to win Lord Shiva’s acceptance. Pleased with her unwavering devotion, Lord Shiva accepted Parvati, and their divine marriage was solemnised amid chants of devotion at the Katha venue.
Agrawal said the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati teaches that true love is founded on sacrifice, faith, patience, and complete dedication. He added that no matter how difficult life’s circumstances become, sincere devotion and perseverance always lead to the right path.
During the event, Agrawal also interacted with differently-abled beneficiaries and their family members. Many participants were seen deeply moved by the spiritual discourse, which encouraged them to embrace compassion, human service, and selfless giving as an integral part of life alongside devotion to Lord Shiva.
