A shocking incident of alleged physical and emotional abuse has surfaced from a reputed government school in Shimla, where a schoolteacher is accused of forcing students to slap their classmates for failing to answer correctly in class. Following a complaint by the mother of a 10-year-old student, the Chhota Shimla Police Station has registered an FIR against the accused teacher.

Teacher Allegedly Ordered Student to Slap Peers Over Wrong Answers
According to the police report, the incident occurred during a Sanskrit class on Monday. The teacher had instructed students to memorize word meanings. When several students failed to answer correctly, she allegedly ordered the class monitor— a 10-year-old girl— to slap her classmates who could not respond accurately.
The frightened student followed the teacher’s instructions and delivered light slaps. However, in a disturbing turn, the teacher allegedly slapped the monitor herself, stating, “This is how you slap. You are the class monitor and you don’t even know how to slap properly?” The teacher also reportedly slapped two other students during the incident.
FIR Filed Under BNS and Juvenile Justice Act
Based on the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the Shimla Police have registered a case against the teacher under:
-
Section 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
-
Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act
Police officials confirmed that an investigation is currently underway and the school administration has been informed. Authorities are likely to record statements from other students and staff to establish a clearer picture of the events.
Child Rights and Safety in Focus
This case has sparked concerns over the treatment of minors in educational institutions, especially in reputed government schools. Experts emphasize the need for sensitivity training for educators, and strict enforcement of child protection laws to prevent such incidents in the future.
