Samsung may abandon plans to release a thinner and cheaper Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 in 2024, according to reports. The South Korean company releases two foldable phones every year – Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. It was previously reported that Samsung may release a cheaper version of the Galaxy Z Fold at a relatively lower price.
A new report from The Elek (a Korean publication) claims that Samsung is rethinking its plans to launch an “affordable” Galaxy Z Fold 6 due to product differentiation factors and industry uncertainty.
According to a report from a Korean news agency, the cheaper Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is equipped without the digitizer board (FPCB) needed to recognize the pen (S Pen). Therefore, this version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to be thinner than the regular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 model.
However, according to tests by Samsung Electronics, the product is no thinner than the standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and other Chinese foldable phones, the report said.

Could the affordable Galaxy Z Fold be delayed until next year?
Samsung plans to add low-cost foldable phone models to increase the adoption of foldable phones in the smartphone market. The company also wants to increase its share of the Chinese folding phone market with the affordable Galaxy Fold phone.
Currently, in addition to Apple, major smartphone manufacturers have also entered the foldable phone market. Last July, Samsung MX CEO T. Roh predicted that more than 100 million foldable phones would be sold annually in the next five years.
According to the report, Samsung is now planning to add a cheaper variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in 2025.
