In an effort to meet consumer demand for more affordable foldables, Samsung appears to be preparing a lower-priced variant of its iconic clamshell foldable — but the latest leak indicates the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE might just be a recycled Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Familiar Design, Minor Changes
According to new CAD-based renders shared by SammyGuru, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is nearly indistinguishable from last year’s Z Flip 6. The design remains consistent, featuring the same vertical fold, compact form factor, and a small external cover display. This stands in contrast to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is expected to receive a bigger cover screen and internal upgrades.
The only noticeable difference comes in dimensions. The Z Flip 7 FE reportedly measures 165.1 x 71.7 x 7.4mm, slightly narrower and thicker than the Z Flip 6 (165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm). While the size change is minimal, it could point to internal modifications — potentially a larger battery or a new thermal solution.
Lower Price, But at What Cost?
Rumors suggest the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE could be powered by an Exynos chipset, a cost-saving move that may help Samsung bring the price down while differentiating it from the flagship Flip 7, which is expected to use a Snapdragon processor.
While the “FE” (Fan Edition) branding isn’t officially confirmed, Samsung has used this strategy before — offering affordable versions of its flagship phones with slightly downgraded specs and recycled designs. The same playbook appears to be in use here.
Expected Launch and Market Availability
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE may not debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7, both expected to launch mid-2025. Instead, it’s likely to arrive later in the year, targeting budget-conscious buyers who still want a piece of the foldable experience without the premium price tag.
Final Thoughts
Samsung’s move to introduce a Fan Edition foldable reflects the growing demand for affordable foldable smartphones, a segment still dominated by premium pricing. However, whether a near-identical Flip 6 rebrand is enough to attract buyers remains to be seen.
