Udaipur : Some unidentified men opened fire and looted Rs. 60 lakh from employees who were refilling cash in an ATM in broad daylight in Chittorgarh on Saturday, police said. Check posts have been laid in the entire area and police is seeking CCTV footage to identify the robbers.

The incident took place in Pratap Nagar under Sadar police station area limits around 11.45 am when two employees of a Mumbai based company which has the contract of cash refill, were depositing money in the SBI ATM here. Suresh and Prakash had brought one crore rupees in three bags and they had put some of the money inside the machine when suddenly few men barged inside the ATM room and sprayed chilly powder in their eyes. They then looted the bags, fired three times in the air to frighten away people and fled from the spot. Negligence was found in the part of the company staff as they did not shut down the ATM shutter before getting inside to refill the machine. Also an armed security guard who had accompanied them in the cash van did not stand out to guard the place and instead went elsewhere.
