Ramgarh, May 15: In a significant ruling, the First Additional District and Sessions Judge’s court in Ramgarh, Jharkhand, sentenced gangster Aman Srivastava and his accomplice Lakhan Saw to life imprisonment for their involvement in the high-profile murder case of Kamlesh Pandey. The court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on each convict. On May 7, the court had found both guilty of murder and conspiracy.
Following the sentencing hearing, the court awarded life sentences to both convicts for the murder charges, along with the fines. Additionally, they were sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000 under Section 120(B) for criminal conspiracy. They also received a seven-year rigorous imprisonment sentence and a fine of ₹10,000 under Section 27 of the Arms Act.
The court stated that failure to pay the fines would result in an additional year of rigorous imprisonment for the convicts. Tight security measures were in place during the announcement of the verdict.
The case pertains to the murder of 70-year-old Kamlesh Pandey, a resident of Patratu, who was shot dead on October 26, 2015, while shopping at a local vegetable market. During the incident, shooters from Srivastava’s gang opened fire, resulting in Pandey’s immediate death. Pawan Kishore Pandey had filed the FIR in this case.
During the hearings, it was revealed that Aman Srivastava had plotted the murder to instill fear and establish his dominance in the area. Investigations indicated that Kamlesh Pandey had no links to any criminal activities. The police had named Ganesh Singh alias Jaiprakash Singh, Lakhan Saw, and Aman Srivastava as accused in the case.
However, the prosecution could not present sufficient evidence and witnesses against Ganesh Singh, leading to his acquittal. The government was represented by APP Shradha Jaya Topno, while the defense was represented by advocates BN Tripathi from Jharkhand High Court and Mahendra Mahto from Ramgarh.
