London, October 27 (Udaipur Kiran): British police have launched a manhunt after a 20-year-old Indian-origin woman was allegedly raped in a racially motivated attack in Walsall, West Midlands, on Saturday evening. Authorities have released CCTV footage of the suspect and appealed to the public for help identifying him.

According to police, officers were called to the Park Hall area after locals found a distressed woman on the street. Investigations revealed that she had been assaulted and raped inside a nearby property by a man unknown to her.
The suspect has been described as a white male in his 30s, with short hair, and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack.
Detective Superintendent Ronan Tyrer, who is leading the investigation, called it an “absolutely appalling attack on a young woman.”
“We are doing everything possible to arrest the person responsible. It’s vital that we hear from anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area or has dashcam or CCTV footage from the vicinity,” Tyrer said.
Police confirmed the assault is being treated as a racially aggravated offence, though they clarified it is not linked to any other investigations.
Local community groups said the victim is of Punjabi heritage and expressed concern about a rise in hate-motivated sexual assaults. Last month, a British Sikh woman was similarly attacked in Oldbury, about 15 miles away, though the suspects in that case were released on bail.
Chief Superintendent Phil Dolby said the police understand the community’s fear and have increased patrols in the area.
“Walsall is a diverse area, and we know this awful attack will cause deep concern. Officers have been speaking with local residents to listen and reassure them. There will be an increased police presence in the coming days,” he added.
Specialist officers from the public protection unit and forensic teams are working on evidence collection and witness tracing. The West Midlands Police have urged anyone who recognises the man or has relevant video footage to contact investigators immediately.
