Jaipur, May 18 — Rajasthan experienced a dramatic weather shift on Saturday afternoon as thunderstorms and rainfall lashed Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Karauli, while extreme heat scorched other parts of the state. A tragic incident was reported from Dholpur where a wall of an under-construction building collapsed in the Raja Vihar Colony of Nihalganj, injuring five people.

Following a day of intense heat and sunlight, clouds gathered and dusty winds swept through Bharatpur division, leading to light rain in several areas including Dholpur and Karauli. Thunderstorms disrupted normal life in these areas, and waterlogging was reported in Bharatpur markets due to sudden downpour.

Despite the showers in eastern regions, northwestern Rajasthan continued to bake under a severe heatwave. The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Sri Ganganagar at 46°C, followed by Pilani, which saw the season’s hottest day at 45.6°C.

Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 43.2°C on Saturday, as heatwave conditions prevailed. The minimum temperature at night was 30.7°C, nearly 5°C above the seasonal average, making the nights uncomfortably warm as well. The extreme heat led to deserted roads and reduced foot traffic across the Pink City during daytime hours.
