Jamui, September 22 (Udaipur Kiran) : NCP (SP) spokesperson Seema Malik has sharply criticized the government regarding a recent incident in Jamui, Bihar, calling for strict action against those responsible. During a press conference in New Delhi, she also addressed issues related to the SIR process, rising inflation, and comments made by Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya about a female councilor.
Commenting on the tragic suicide of an IIT Bombay student, Malik expressed deep sorrow, emphasizing the need for a fair investigation into the allegations surrounding the case. She highlighted the importance of addressing any caste-related issues that may arise during the inquiry, insisting that action should be taken based on the facts uncovered.
Malik condemned the Jamui incident, stating that it should be condemned as much as possible. She questioned how the accused found the audacity to commit such acts and called out the BJP for its contradictory stance on women’s safety, referencing the party’s “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign.
Accusing the BJP of hypocrisy, she noted that while the party makes grand claims about women’s safety and law and order, incidents like this continue to occur in BJP-ruled states. Malik described the harassment faced by women as a serious issue, demanding stringent measures against the perpetrators.
She expressed her displeasure over the characterization of the Jamui incident as a mere “isolated event,” arguing that while controversies arise over comedians’ remarks, serious incidents involving women’s safety are downplayed. Additionally, she criticized the JDU, stating that the party today is not what it used to be under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, questioning its current approach to law and order.
On the SIR process, Malik referenced notices reportedly sent to prominent political figures in Delhi, raising concerns about the challenges ordinary citizens might face in similar situations. She also targeted the central government over rising inflation, noting that prices for vegetables and essential goods are increasing, and questioned why the public is not benefiting from lower crude oil prices in the international market.
Finally, Malik objected to Vijayvargiya’s alleged body-shaming remarks directed at a female councilor, accusing him of engaging in “show politics” while simultaneously claiming to support women’s dignity.
