Jaipur, October 7 (Udaipur Kiran): The Western Disturbance active over North India is currently impacting the weather in Rajasthan, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a rain alert for nine districts. Several parts of Jaipur also recorded light drizzle on Tuesday morning.

According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, skies are expected to clear from October 8, with dry weather likely to return across the state.
The continuous rainfall over the past two days has affected multiple districts. On Monday, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms lashed areas including Jaipur, Nagaur, Hanumangarh, Sikar, Bundi, and Alwar, with some locations recording up to four inches of rain. The downpour led to waterlogging in fields, damaging standing Kharif crops, while cloudy skies and winds brought a drop in temperatures.
In Hanumangarh, the day and night temperatures differed by just one degree, with a maximum of 26.4°C and minimum of 25.4°C. Over the past 24 hours, Alwar, Nagaur, Jaipur, Bundi, Hanumangarh, Jhalawar, Sikar, and Sri Ganganagar experienced heavy showers. Kuchaman (Nagaur) recorded the highest rainfall at 88 mm, followed by 70 mm in Khandela (Sikar) and 66 mm in Shrimadhopur.
In Jaipur, several areas witnessed intense rainfall—92 mm near Chhaparwara Dam, 56 mm in Shahpura, 52 mm in Bairath, 35 mm in Fagi, and 29 mm in Sanganer, leading to waterlogging in low-lying parts of the city.
The rain and cloud cover also brought a significant drop in temperature. On Monday, 15 cities in Rajasthan recorded maximum temperatures below 30°C. Sikar was the coldest at 22.5°C, followed by Jaipur at 25.1°C, Alwar at 24°C, Churu at 24.1°C, and Ganganagar at 27.5°C.
The Met Department expects the Western Disturbance to weaken from October 8, leading to clear skies and pleasant nights with mild daytime warmth. The end of the rainfall spell is likely to bring relief to farmers, as persistent rains have caused flooded fields and crop damage in several regions.
