Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time remake project finally received release confirmation from Ubisoft Forward on Monday. The action-adventure film will be released in 2026. Ubisoft has confirmed that the remake of Prince of Persia.
The Sands of Time has successfully completed pre-production and is now in full production. The announcement comes after a difficult development period for the game, which was first announced in 2020. The publisher also announced Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and the recent release of The Rogue Prince of Persia from Ubisoft Forward.

Teaser for Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time remake
At Ubisoft Forward, the publisher unveiled a new trailer for its Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, confirming that it is slated for release in 2026. According to the publisher, the game is currently in full development, but did not provide details. The remake project, first announced at Ubisoft Forward in 2020, has suffered numerous development delays.
Ubisoft’s remake of Pune and Mumbai from Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was originally given to Ubisoft Montreal in 2022. Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Bucharest, Ubisoft Pune and E-Studio are now helping to develop the game. The original Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was first released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox and Windows platforms. The game is considered a classic of the action-adventure genre.
Prince of Persia : The Lost Crown update
Ubisoft has also released further updates for the Prince of Persia series and confirmed free updates for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Rogue Prince of Persia. The free Divine Trials update for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is now available to all players, the publisher announced. This update adds 22 new special challenges for players to test their skills.
Ubisoft said in a press release: “Players can now access Memorial Hall through a special door in Haven and choose from four challenge sets. These challenges are becoming increasingly difficult and bring with them unique conditions. And they’re strangely designed.” These include platforming challenges, puzzles, combat-based trials and reworked boss battles.
Trials unlock as the player progresses and unlocks new powers. However, Ubisoft confirmed that people who have already completed a trial will be able to directly access all trials at once using their existing save data. Additionally, players who manage to defeat the modified boss at the end of each challenge set will be rewarded with four new spells and costumes.
The publisher also shared a glimpse of Prince of Persia: Lost Crown Story’s upcoming DLC ”Mask of Darkness,” which will be released on all platforms in September 2024.
Rogue Prince of Persia update
The recently released Rogue Prince of Persia also received its first major title update during the Ubisoft Forward conference. The publisher has announced The Temple of Fire update for its roguelike platformer, which is still available. This update adds new biomes that include new enemies, traps and navigation challenges. This update also adds two new mobs called Shielded Warrior and Duelist, as well as a new weapon called Flaming Censers.
“This update also introduces the Meta Progression skill tree, allowing players to unlock permanent progressions using Spirit Glimmer,” Ubisoft said. Early access update for version 1.0.
