Antigua : Australia has stormed into the Super 8 of the ICC T20 World Cup after crushing Namibia by 9 wickets here on Wednesday morning (IST). Namibia was bundled out for a mere 72 runs while Australia chased down the target in just 5.4 overs for the loss of one wicket to clinch the victory. Adam Zampa (4 overs/12 runs/4 wickets) was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance.
With this win, Australia becomes the second team to reach the Super 8. Earlier today, South Africa had qualified for the Super 8 after Nepal and Sri Lanka’s match was washed out due to rain.

Chasing a small target of 73 runs, Australia got off to a flying start with David Warner and Travis Head adding 21 runs in just 1.3 overs. Warner was dismissed by David Wiese for 20 runs in this score. He faced 8 balls and hit 3 fours and a six.
After this, Head and captain Mitchell Marsh did not let any wicket fall and took Australia to victory in just 5.4 overs. Head scored 34 runs off 17 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, while Marsh remained unbeaten on 18 runs off 9 balls with 3 fours and a six.
Namibia Skittles Out for 72, Zampa Claims Four Wickets
Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, inviting Namibia to bat. Namibia had a poor start and lost five wickets for just 21 runs. From here, captain Gerhard Erasmus tried to hold the innings together, but wickets kept falling from the other end, and the entire team was bundled out for just 72 runs in 17 overs.
Erasmus played a good innings of 36 runs. Apart from him, Michael van Lingen scored 10 runs. Eight Namibia batsmen could not even reach double digits. For Australia, Adam Zampa took 4 wickets, Josh Hazlewood and Marcus Stoinis took 2 wickets each, while Pat Cummins and Nathan Ellis took 1 wicket each.
Australia’s Path to Super 8
Australia has now won both of their matches in Group A, having defeated Scotland by 8 wickets in their opening match. They will now face the winner of Group B in the first quarter-final of the Super 8.
